its said that rugby is a thugs game played by gentlemen and football is a gentlemen game played by thugs.
so in rugby most of the physical stuff takes place on the pitch and i have never heard of any off the pitch violence between the fans.unlike the ugly scenes we have seen in football. in rugby rival fans arnt segregated from each other.
so begs the question why is rugby so different, is it that the referee and touch judges have complete control on the pitch??

cos footballers get paid millions to run bout like bloody idiots cry wen sum1 stands on there foot n need a stretcher! rugny players on the other hand r built!! trust me i admire them! but wot can a say a black eye to thm is the sign of a gud game! hee hee

rugby and cricket you are allowed to drink alcohol in the stands dunno if that happens with football and even with alcohol there is never any trouble.

I've never heard that, i've heard the opposite!

Over here, the top schools all play rugby and it is seen as more of a gentleman's sport.
People from the middle classes would grow up playing and therefore having an interest in rugby whereas football is more working class sport

best thing about rugby is the fans arent segregated! football fans are kept apart and if there is a real riverly there is a hug poilce presence! not in rugby! plus ppl go to rugby to watch rugby regardless of who they support!
its true here as well, a went ot private school and we played rugby had lil interest in football, we even had newcastle falcons come in to scout our boys

Most the people who watch football are clowns! Sit there and complain all the the time. The others just start trouble and act stupid. Thats why i don't go much anymore. I havn't really been to that many rugby matches but i think its a totaly different, more friendly atmosphere just due to the difference in game probably.

Maybe just the origings of the game and the fact that in rugby far more agression is released while playing.

Like professional football is totaly different to sunday league. No diving in sunday league and much more fights too!

footie u hav got a point! a suppose they all dive cos they r tryin to win well cheat. but rugby isnt as easy its a physical game so they cant cry if sum stands on their toe. plus there is so much more discipline in it! footballers do ot for money rugby players play for the love of the game, there isnt evn half the money of football in rugby! its such a shame cos england are better rugby players than they are footballers
