I managed to disable new forum user registrations by sending the registration emails through a non existent email server!
This meant new users (and there's been a LOT) haven't received the email they needed to activate their accounts.
Fixed now, so new users can sign up for the forum.
Also sent reminder emails to a lot of those who missed them.
