When my last relationship ended I found it strange. The relationship itself was doomed, we were together for 6 years but most of that time I spent being miserable because I wasn't happy with him (he was possesive, violent, alcoholic etc.).

When it ended I felt relief. I did miss being in a relationship with someone, but I didn't miss being with him. So for me, although it sounds cold-hearted, it was alot easier for me to move on. If I'd still felt strongly about him and was 100% happy with him then it probably would've taken forever to move on.

If my current boyfriend and I split up then I would be very heartbroken and wouldn't know where to start to begin putting my life back together - so I feel for whoever is going through this and can only offer this person some cyber hugs.

Best advice I can give is to maybe do things to take her mind off it. I know it's easier said than done, but maybe if she tries new hobbies to take her mind off things, it'll also lead to making new friends etc. and in time she'll get over it?
