Stupid Bloody Banks!!

I've just checked my bank online (it's an online account so i don't get statements) to see that a direct debit i cancelled over a year ago has been taken off and hence has sent me over my overdraft and now i'm facing 5 days of £25perday charges! grrrrrr

I phoned the bank and they are going to reclaim the money and send me a form out to try to claim back the bank charges from the company who took the money, but this has left me in a real predicament - my sick pay isn't due into the bank for another fortnight, and now I can't withdraw any money to pay my rent or for my prescriptions!

ARRRRGHHHHHHH!!

Rant over

Aww hun I'm sorry to hear that. I hope they pay you back + bank charges asap. They should definately pay you back because they're in the wrong. It's outrageous that someone can take money off you when you'd cancelled it - they shouldn't even have your bank details anymore, and that is kinda scary :?

i got the money the insurance company took out back, i'm still waiting for the charges notification email so i can claim them back too.

i'm thinking about claiming ALL my bank charges back - even though i've only had the accout since March 06, i've been paying about £75-100 per month in charges

I'm glad you got the money back.

You should definately look into getting your charges back. I think it's ridiculous how some banks charge you on a daily basis and then expect you to pay it but then go overdrawn again - you obviously went overdrawn for a reason so they can't expect to take money off you and when there's no money there they charge you again - it is absurd. It's like you're going overdrawn again and again just paying these charges off
