Help...?by bananas » Tue Aug 14, 2007 12:51 pm

Anyone out there got advice on how to get a new job after graduating?? Will I be able to get a job in the field I've graduated in straight away - or is it a long process??

I'm clueless! x

I'm not much help but most of the ppl i know struggle to get a job in what they graduated in. They end up in call centres and stuff just to pass the time until they can get what they want.

Wishing u all the best tho! xx :)

Look on the internet for employment websites that specialise in your area. Sites like monstor etc. don't really specialise in specific areas so employers tend not to go there as they think potential employees will look at more specific sites.

Good luck! :)

Get local papers and see if your uni do a service where they provide you with details of graduate jobs going near you

Ours used to compile a magazine of all recruiters looking for graduates

Or your could join an agency?

Start now, look a job that suits to your field, there is lot of company or a workplace who hire a fresh grad, how could you found an experience on your profession if you don't step forward. have a confidence in your self and learn from your mistakes and try to be good in your work. Remember: People who are unable to motivate themselves must be content with mediocrity, no matter how impressive their other talents.

I think right now with the economy it might be a little harder than usual to find a job, but it will eventually happen! I wouldn't plan on having a job right out of college though... it takes time to find something. It also depends on the experience you have. You should look on websites, the newspaper, etc for job oppenings, and contact any employment agencies there are in your area. Also start trying to form contacts! This always helps.
