I love going to gigs. I've been to lots the past couple of years.

Seen Foo Fighters twice (they are amazing!), Fratelli's, Snow Patrol, RHCP, Paolo Nutini etc.

All sorts of stuff :)

I really want to go and see No Doubt though because they're my favourite band of all time.

What about you? x

I like pretty much the same stuff as you. Bands that play instruments rather than "boybands".

I gotta say I love The Killers - they're amazing!

I can't say I'm a big fan of the Killers. I liked them when Mr Brightside and their other song was out but ever since the Jesus song it all just seems a bit... dull? to me. And I think all their songs are starting to sound the same :?

Sorry

going to see The Police this weekend
next weekend we are going to see Christy Moore - he's an irish folk singer, i've already seen him 8 times but Brian has only heard some of his stuff on CD. so, that is on the friday night, in Hammersmith Appollo, London. then on saturday we travel up to nottingham for a festival called FIREFEST IV, where his friend's band FM are playing

then we have the Marillion Not Quite Christmas Tour, I'm doing every UK date, and all of the Holland ones 8) can't wait - i'm REALLY excited about this, so my health had better stay on an even keel or else!

i'm a HUGE fan of them! did every night on their world tour this year :) have been in regular contact with the band members since last year, two of the members came up to glasgow for my birthday this year, granted, we were holding an advance listening party for the new album, but they brought me a lovely bday card signed by all the band and one signed by their crew.

brian is a huge fan of them too and sometimes edits their fan magazine for them. one of his best friends works for them, so we are in the same social circle as them all, so much that they have asked where their wedding invites are

yeah, they did kayleigh, but that was with the ex-singer Fish, he left in 89 and has a rather wodnerful solo career (we know him too, my ex, Rob, and Fish were drinking buddies)

they are about to release album number 15, and, useless fact for you:
Marillion were the first band t implement the internet to reach their fans. at one point, they were so skint, having booted their management and hence, not having a record label, that they asked their fans to pre-order an album which hadn't even been written yet, so that they could fund the production and studio time. in return the fans who pre-ordered and paid that little bit extra got a special editon of the album with their names in the cover. this has now become the norm, the guys have their own management team, record label and their own studios, set up in Aylesbury. they north american fans funded a tour by prepayment in 2004, for the release of album no 13, Marbles.
their online work has been such a success that the forum is used by (i think it is) about 8000 users, and there are seperate website, linked to their own, promoting and taking bookings etc for the weekend conventions, which are held ebery other year. this year was in Port Zelande, Ooudorp, Holland, and was such a roaring success that we have booked the same venue for March 2009.....a weekend of 3000 Marillion fans, mingling with the band, enjoying 4 nights of gigs from the band, lots of daytime acitivites, lots of support bands and of course, meeting up with all of the friends made within the Marillion "family".

i could waffle on for hours about them, but i think i will go make a cuppa and hang up the washing instead!

hehe :) I think it's great that you know the band and I think it's wonderful how their fans stood behind them and supported them so much to get their albums recorded etc. The internet is a wonderful place (and sometimes a pain in the a** ;) ). Shows that a band can succeed without the help of myspace hehe :)

I really like the song Kayleigh - I may have to download some more of their stuff to see what they're up to these days :)

Wow Toothfaery...How bloomin lucky are you to be friends with your favourite band?

I cant imagine ever hanging about with anyone famous  My life just isn't that exciting.

Are they going to play at your wedding? That would be so exciting!!

Keep us all posted!

we're not sure if they will be playing anything at the wedding, i think they might like a "day off", given that they spend 363 days of the year in studio or on tour. there will definately be one of the tracks from their most recent album played though. it's called The Other Half, and the lyrics are beautiful....this is my favourite section:

"I am the other half
And you are what I am for
I won't lie to you or hurt you
I'm not like that anymore

I am with you all the time now
One soul. One mind. One heart.
The other half cannot be parted
From the other half"

being close to the boys has taken some of the magic out of it, at the end of the day they are just 5 ordinary men, with families and mortgages who were lucky enough to find that indulging their passion paid off for them

What a lovely lyric :D

I'm sure it'll be wonderful to have them at your wedding as friends. Not many people can say that their favourite band came to their wedding....

I'll have to figure out how to get Take That to come to mine

Take That.....ah, the memories.....my twin sis and i convinced our parents to send us to stay with relatives in Cheshire in summer 1994, then proceeded to camp out at Gary Barlow's and Mark Owen's family homes

one of our friends is doing every night on their current tour, she calls from gigs so that my twin can have a listen.

I've not heard all of the new album yet, I love Patience, but don't like Shine, because it is used on Morrisons store radio, and there is only so much of that you can take
